This fire blew up a couple of hours ago. Surprised that no one is posting either here or on FB for this one.

Surprised too. Saw some pics on FB so drove near it..seems to be fairly close to the houses west of River Oaks across from Riverside. There are still flames as of now....not a good day with this heat and the wind. Those poor Firemen out there must be roasting to death--it's 108! without the clothes and flames

I just read that it is out and no houses were lost. Whew!

They did a good job keeping it out of the houses. It was up to the back fences of some. I am presuming that some fencing may have been damaged. Otherwise, there were units from the outlying agencies helping out on this one. From what I can see they did good.

It started at 2pm. I heard 6 trucks go by. I listened to the scanner for about an hour. They did a great job! I drove by at 830. Still some smoldering. Last truck was just leaving. I feel bad for the ones that live right there and have to smell it. yuck! but so happy to know that no homes were lost. Wonder how it started though.

The fire was just one house over from ours. Since we had been in a quick moving fire when we had acreage in Susanville, we knew how fast a fire can move in dry, windy conditions. There was a great deal of heat and smoke for quite awhile, and we were vigilant pretty much through the rest of the night. (And will continue to be.) We want to say thank you very much to the quick actions of the fire department from Marysville - the first responders. It looked like the fire was going to get away and swallow the house next to the vacant lot, but they took control. Thanks guys to a really heroic effort! My hubby will submit the picture took from over our fence in the early part of the fire....

Here is the pic from over our fence. Too close for comfort.
