Is anyone else having concerns with the plants dying along the roadsides? If so , let me know. I am currently in contact with both the County & Botanica about this and the more they hear from us the more likely something will be done. Cheers,
Steve

I have been working on this for over a month. Also spoke with OPUD about Eufay Wood Park. Both have been really open to talking about the issues and solving the problem. Ryan McNally at Yuba County Public Works is the contact.

My husband and I were just noticing how brown everything looks and wondering where our special tax assessments are going. Don't they HAVE to maintain things if we are paying?

I'm meeting with Botanica and Roger Abe ( our county supervisor ) on Wednesday on River Oaks. Also Ryan NcNalley from the county is coming out to look around on the same day. They seem to be open to solving the problem. As for the light pole thats fallen over-I contacted PGE over a month ago. I will ask our supervisor about it on Wednesday. It's possible that it isn't PGE's resposibility, so I'll try to find out.

According to Ryan McNally from Yuba County Public Works, parts of the underground irrigation system have failed and it has taken a while to figure it out. He told me they have a plan to make the repairs and replace the dead plants. We must stay on top of this to make sure we get our money's worth and get OUR community looking nice again.

I have been calling Ryan at the county for weeks with no reply. I have registered a American Public Records Request for the water bills and the landscaping contract. We pay a lot of money for our Mello Roos for our landscaping and such. I would like to know what happened at your meeting.

Its kinda obvious there is broken irrigation that needs to be fixed. I drive over the same wet part of river oaks every morning at about 4am its running out of the planter in the middle of the road.

It is the same over on Arboga Road, where they just finished all the landscaping last year.
All the trees in the median are dying, and I almost never see the sprinklers on/or working??

I saw a guy within the last week looking at each one and making sure they were functioning correctly.

Well, it looks like the county has decided to bark the bare spots along River Oaks and will be replanting some new plants. It will be going out to bid. It took a little persistence, but the county has been responsive to the problem. Thanks to Eddie at Botanica for taking me around and showing me what they are dealing with. And also to Ryan McNalley at Parks & Rec and Supervisor Roger Abe for taking time with me.
The southern end of River Oaks has a standard watering system with pop-ups and drip irrigation, and it is very nice looking along that area. The bad spots on most of River Oaks are from a system called Netfem ( I'm not sure of the spelling), which is basically a tubing with weep holes. It is a cheaper system put in by a contractor, and is easier to damage and harder to maintain. When people put stakes into the ground for garage sale signs or when they are running for office, etc, they can go right thru the tubing. So it isn't the best system but it is what it is for the time being. Eddie has told me that they will be doing more repairs and be spending more time making sure the irrigation is working properly.
So, we should begin to see some improvements and although I don't think that that let's the county off the hook for letting it get so bad, at least now they are aware that a lot of us out here aren't happy about paying for something that we aren't getting, and they will be paying more attention to the roadsides in the future.

Update 9/21: Starting next week Botanica will start putting bark on the bare spots between Algodon on the north end of River Oaks to just past the school on the south end and will also be planting 250 new plants.
